When the Newport Preservation Society sought to raise awareness of its restoration efforts of Rhode
Island's famous mansions, it decided a half hour film would be part of the public relations campaign. Lorie
Conway produced a program that was rich in stunning images of the famous homes and filled with archival
photographs and fascinating interviews with many of Newport's colorful characters. Narrated by the late J.
Carter Brown, Director of the National Gallery of Art, the video showcased the work of the Preservation
Society, the attraction of Newport as a tourist destination and the importance of supporting the preservation
efforts.
